About James
James goes by EIGHTBIT as a DJ and Breaker
Living with his single, retired father, he was exposed to other ethnic cultures and remembers watching breaking and hip hop on TV in the early 80’s. Hip hop and breaking gave him an ability to relate to and expand his genuine interest in the culture around him. By the early to mid 90’s, he was learning foundational breaking movements and vocabulary.
Most of his dancing has been in isolation at home or on a packed dance floor. Moving away from the front range limited his access to studios and exchange with other dancers until he found Dance Initiative and Breaking instructor Joh. (They had a mutual connection through owner and Operator and of the BBoy Factory, Bboy RuleOne aka Ian Flaws.)
