Sept. 9 & 10 at The Launchpad (76 S. 4th St, Carbondale, CO)

Calling all movement and dance educators! Join Dance Initiative for a very special dance teacher training in Brain Compatible Dance Education with Terry Goetz, the executive director of the Creative Dance Center (CDC) in Seattle, WA. Brain Compatible Dance Education (BCDE), developed by Anne Green Gilbert at CDC,  is a structured methodology for teaching all disciplines of dance using a lesson plan and strategies that create an environment in which the brain is ready, willing, and able to learn. This holistic approach develops every student into a whole dancer as skilled technician, critical thinker, collaborator, and creator. BCDE also incorporates the BrainDance, known to many movement educators as the developmental patterns. These are the eight fundamental movement patterns human beings are programmed to move through from birth through twelve months that wire the central nervous system laying a foundation for appropriate behavior and attention, eye convergence necessary for reading, sensory-motor development, and more. Terry Goetz has been on the faculty of the Creative Dance Center since 2000 and teaches Nurturing Baby, Parent/Toddler, and Parent/Child Creative Dance classes and Ballet and Modern Dance for older children and adults. Terry has taught in preschools, elementary classrooms, and studios throughout the Seattle area since retiring from Pacific Northwest Ballet where she danced from 1988-1995.
