Spectrum Dance Festival

Mark your calendars! September 16-18, 2016 will be the next Spectrum dance Festival.



The 6th annual Spectrum Dance Festival will present performances of original choreography by Dance Initiative Artist-in-Residence Staycee Pearl as well other local dance artists and an outstanding series of workshops for the purpose of entertaining, educating, and developing awareness and appreciation for the art of dance. In the past 5 years, SDF has showcased more than 15 groups and brought upwards of 50 dance artists to Carbondale from a plethora of disciplines including modern, ballet, hip hop, latin dance, tango, aerials and more. Some of the performers, companies and workshop instructors include Suki Schorer of the School of American Ballet, King Charles, Rennie Harris and GrassRoots Project, Kat Gurley and Wild Heart, Amy Anderson and Gregory Gonzales of Colorado Ballet, Patrick Mueller and Control Group Productions, Michelle "Meesh" McGlone, David Taylor and Zikr, Ruen Ronnie Navarro, Gabi Rojas, Nick Jones, Diana Cruz and Rujeko Dumbutshena.

The SDF workshop lineup has included free youth hip hop classes, as well as a variety of modern classes for all levels, acroyoga, aerial silks, tango, Mezcla Social, Nia, tap, improv and African dance to name a few.
