Dance Initiative will be hosting NYC-based dance artist Christiana Axelsen as an Artist In Residence at The Launchpad on Jan. 28 through Feb. 5. At the end of Axelson's week long residency she will offer an All Levels Workshop in modern dance for the community. Axelsen is a graduate of the Merce Cunningham Professional Training Program where she performed alongside the Repertory Understudy Group and has since performed with Molissa Fenley, (a former Dance Initiative Artist in Residence, 2015), Christopher Williams, Pam Tanowitz, Beth Gill, and many others. She has taught workshops and classes at New York University, Mount Holyoke College, Barnard College, Salt Lake City's Repertory Dance Theater, Velocity Dance Center, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival’s Community Program and Brooklyn Arts Exchange. Please wear long pants and bring knee pads if you have sensitive knees as there may be floor work. The workshop is $15 and pre-registration is encouraged as space is limited.
