Spectrum Dance Festival: Broad Spectrum Performance

  • Carbondale Middle School Auditorium 180 Snowmass Drive Carbondale, CO, 81623 United States

Dance Initiative welcomes Rennie Harris' Grass Roots Project back to a second Spectrum Dance Festival! Lorenzo (Rennie) Harris, Artistic Director and Choreographer of the Boulder-based group Grass Roots Project, celebrates hip-hop culture on his own terms by using some of the world’s most influential forms of movement, music, and storytelling to revolutionize contemporary concert dance. Born and raised in North Philadelphia, Harris has been teaching workshops and classes at universities around the country and is a powerful spokesperson for the significance of “street” origins in any dance style. Grass Roots Project will perform Harris' original work "Beautiful Human Lies" which is a suite of works inspired by the personal abuse Harris witnessed as a child. While this work is touching, beautiful, and a cultural rich, it does include violent imagery and explicit language which may not be suitable for young children.

Tickets: $15 online | $20 at the door | Youth 18 & under free
