July 20 and 21 in Carbondale, Colorado

The Spectrum Dance Festival will present performances of original choreography, demonstrations of different dance styles, workshops, competitions and opportunities for all to dance. The Festival aims to entertain, educate, develop awareness and appreciation of all styles and support the creation of new choreography.

On Saturday, July 20th and Sunday, July 21st, morning and afternoon workshops will be offered in Ballet, Modern, Hip Hop, Salsa, Tango and on a variety of Aerial apparatus, all taking place in various studios at the Third Street Center in Carbondale.

The Hip Hop/Break style will be showcased in a 2 on 2 BBOY/BGIRL competition in PAC3, Carbondale, entitled ”Battle 2 the Drums” with eliminations on Saturday afternoon and the final rounds evening. To entertain both the competitors and the attendees, there will be the "X-Dances" with a fantastic performance, "On the Earth and in the Air", featuring modern dance and aerials.

Following the “X” Dances and competition, the chairs were put away and DJ Soulrane will get all who attend to break out and dance.

For those who would like to partner dance, there will be a Milonga--a traditional tango party-- in the Round Room of the Third Street Center at 9pm.

Sunday, July 21, the ZIKR Dance Ensemble, one of Colorado's premier dance organizations, will perform a matinee and evening show at the Thunder River Theatre, Carbondale.
